Behind Closed Doors!
By Vision Nation
Vision Nation presents a series of stories featuring everyday characters and lives within the direct provision system in Ireland.
Devised with actors living in direct provision in Galway, Behind Closed Doors! exposes life in the direct provision system.
Stories of everyday life interweave with live music to show the impact of the direct provision system, involving adults from different countries, speaking different languages, of different ages and personalities, all sharing a room and trying to live their lives with no privacy or dignity. Conflict breaks out over the basic rights of life, over using the bathroom, or keeping the light on, trying to study, or trying to sleep.
Behind Closed Doors! invites us to reflect on a system that dehumanizes, disempowers and ultimately can institutionalise people that have been forced to leave their native land in search of safer shores.
Directed by Jenny Bassett with live music from Benjamin Oben and Kingsley Anokye.
Each performance will be followed by a Q&A.
