‘An Irresponsible Father’s Guide to Parenting’ joins the Galway theatre festival after a successful stint at the 2018 Edinburgh fringe festival.
Produced by local theatre company No Ropes theatre, ‘An Irresponsible Father’s Guide to Parenting’ is a comical showcase of writer /performer Laurence Clark’s experience of having children as a parent with cerebral palsy. The show is aided by projected images and dark wit to both entertain and teach the audience about the differences and similarities between disabled and able bodied parents.
After seeing the show at the Edinburgh Fringe, producer Mairead Folan knew that this show would be an excellent fit for the Galway theatre festival. She comments “An Irresponsible Father’s Guide to Parenting was the highlight of my 2018 Edinburgh Fringe experience. Laurence has the brilliant ability of balancing difficult issues and comedy banter while still maintaining the gravity behind these topics. I immediately thought of Galway Theatre Festival audiences as the perfect Irish audience archetype to appreciate this entertaining production to its fullest. It also can be said that by having ‘An Irresponsible Father’s Guide to Parenting’ as part of the 2019 festival programme, we will certainly begin to see a body of work on our stages that is curated without prejudice that gives a robust insight into all life in Ireland”.
‘An Irresponsible Parent’s guide to Parenting’ runs from the 8th-11th of May in the O’ Donoghue Theatre, NUIG. It is approx. 60 minutes long. To book tickets for this engaging and unique show, click here.
