How to Stop the Sea
By Emer McMahon

“If there’s a moment to regret it’s now. But I let it pass. Tumble in only half-knowing. What’s to come.”

There is a house, long outgrown, where beetles scatter across the floorboards. Nearby, the sea watches on. Inside, a woman steals a glance at a young man in pink Bermuda shorts.
Theirs is a connection rooted in place and loss; a story with a dark underbelly, filled with longing and yellow gorse, with the strange lights of home and the weight of the unsaid.
In this eerie exploration of language, rhythm and letting go, two monologues weave back and forth creating a sensual, atmospheric piece of spoken word drama.
