GALWAY THEATRE Festival has appointed Sorcha Keane as its new festival director. She takes over the festival as it moves into its 11th year.
New Festival Director appointed to lead Galway Theatre Festival!
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sorcha Keane as GTF new Festival Director.
Keane will take over the extremely successful festival as it moves into its 11th year and begins gearing up for 2020. Sorcha Keane has a Masters in Cultural Policy and Arts Management from UDC , a Masters in Theatre and Drama from NUI Galway , and has gathered experience working with the Audi Dublin International Film Festival, Galway International Arts Festival, the Arts in Action NUI Galway, and, most recently, with Galway Theatre Festival. "I'm delighted to have this opportunity to lead a festival like Galway Theatre Festival, which does such vital work in supporting the next generation of artists in Galway and the West," Keane says. "The festival has already made an impact on the city, and is beginning to be seen nationally as a high quality platform for new work in Ireland. I'm looking forward to working with the festival Board and team to extend and deepen that impact and showcase the incredible talent to be found in Galway and the West. "
The 11th Galway Theatre Festival will run from May 3rd - 11th, 2019 and promises to continue to bring a vibrant, imaginative and exciting selection of outstanding theatre to Galway. Save the date! ... See more
We are unbelievably proud of Fintan Sweeney and the GIAF volunteers representing multiple organisations and categories at last night's Mayor's Awards! Fintan won the Award for his selfless work in Arts, Culture, Heritage & Cursaí Gaeilge in Galway, well-deserved for his work with Galway International Arts Festival, Galway Theatre Festival, Galway Early Music, Baboro International Arts Festival for Children, Macnas, That's Life and more.
A host of GIAF volunteers with the Eglinton Hotel Direct Provision Accommodation Centre Residents' Committee also won in the Community Services & Social Inclusion category. We look forward to having you all back this year!
