by John Rogers & Aengus Hackett
Tea is a show encompassing theatre, live music, ceremony and, of course, tea.
Theatremaker John Rogers teams up with musician and composer Aengus Hackett to create a performance that infuses Eastern tea ceremonies with the customs of the Irish ‘cuppa’.
The piece draws on Rogers’ work on the Suramedura artist residency in Sri Lanka and Hackett’s exploration of the possibilities in bringing together different musical cultures, combining Indonesian Gamelan and electronics, most recently with In Flow.
Running in the morning, at lunchtime and in the evening, Tea is an opportunity to experience a show that juxtaposes a meditative otherworldliness with the everyday essence of a good cup of tea.
