ÁINE MOYNIHAN WITH GIORRIA COLLECTIVE presents
AN TAIBHDHEARC

Feisteas an tSaoil/ Dressing the Part is a bilingual show performed by poet and actor Áine Moynihan, presented by the Irish language collective Giorria Theatre. It celebrates women’s lives through the social changes of the 20th century and beyond. This is a brave new work from a woman who has lived a fascinating life. These moments are underscored by musical fragments and airs played on piano and on fiddle from the islands of Cape Clear, Inisheer and West Kerry. Feisteas an tSaoil is original in concept and theme. It is the voice of an older female artist, a voice mostly unheard, who is working on the western seaboard for many years in both Irish and English. It deals with very personal stories of birth and death, marriage and breaking taboos, in a society best known for its silences. Tracing key moments of schooling, courtship, marriage and giving birth, this bilingual tale unfolds in prose and poetry- creating a moving performance. It strengthens the presence of Irish language theatre in Galway and the West of Ireland
