Applications Open for CUISLE Artist Residency 2026

Galway Theatre Festival, in partnership with Fishamble: The New Play Company, has opened applications for the 2026 CUISLE Artist Residency, a week-long development opportunity for theatre artists based in or connected to Galway.

Now running for a second year, CUISLE gives artists the space, time and dramaturgical support to develop an idea for the stage. The residency will be facilitated by Gavin Kostick, Literary Manager at Fishamble, with two guest facilitators joining throughout the week, and will take place in the heart of Galway City.

Artists selected for the residency will receive:

• A €1,000 stipend
• Accommodation with fellow participants
• Support with access costs where needed
• Evening events for socialising and networking
• 1:1 time with GTF staff
• Potential to present work at Galway Theatre Festival 2027/2028

Galway Theatre Festival strongly encourages applications from artists working in the Irish language, and from artists from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented communities. Two places are reserved for theatre artists based in Galway County, supported by Galway County Arts Office.
