Hello and welcome to Galway Theatre Festival 2021! We are so thrilled for you to experience this amazing festival.
Who are “we” you ask? We are the interns, Laura and Noel! We are both postgrad students at NUI Galway this year, and we are so excited to help the GTF team put this fantastic festival together. In true Millennial fashion, we’re going to blog about our experience! We’re going to talk about what it is like to be a digital intern this year, some of the things we are researching like technology and accessibility, and our thoughts on some of the cool shows that we get to see!
Noel has been involved in a lot of theatre since he began in NUIG. He was auditor of NUIG Dramsoc for the year 2019/2020. He took part in the SELECTED 20 program by Galway International Arts Festival. This year, Noel is Public Relations Officer for Galway University Musical Society where he was recently awarded “Best Poster” and “Best Publicity Campaign” for his work with the society.
Noel’s mission is to create theatre that engages audiences, inspires, and entertains
Laura Brincat is an interdisciplinary artist from the States who received her B.F.A. in Film Production from Emerson College and is currently studying for her M.A. in Theatre Practice and Production at NUI Galway. She specializes in directing work for the performing arts, but also experiments with mediums such as audio and new media.
Recently she directed a performance art scene, “My Body Remembers”, for the theatrical project Nochtaithe as part of the NUIG Tuam Oral History Project. Her new media curation work was featured in the online journal European Capitals of Culture: The Art of Reimagining. Her mission is to collaborate with talented artists and thinkers to devise new works and to push the boundaries of the performing arts.
We hope that this blog inspires you to check out the shows, join a workshop, and support theatre in Galway!
